The Folkcraft Custom Series 6-String mountain dulcimer has everything you want in a powerful, rich strumming-oriented dulcimer. Ideal for both chord playing and noter-drone style performance, the three doubled courses of strings will give you power and sustain that just doesn't happen with a three- or four-string dulcimer.

What can you customize on a 6-string dulcimer instrument? Pretty much anything you imagine - fret patterns, sound holes, body woods, tone woods, and more!

Our 6-string dulcimer instrument is based on our Folkcraft Custom Series Mountain Dulcimer, and has our largest body and a 1 1/2" wide fretboard. A flat head is standard, with six enclosed-gear tuners, three on each side of the head. Whether your style of play is contemporary or traditional, this instrument does it all!

Each of our handmade dulcimers comes with our best soft carrying case, made here in the Folkcraft workshop. Our rigid case, which offers more protection, is available for an upcharge. Strap buttons are also included.

Please allow eight to twelve weeks for shipping on your custom-built instrument.

Beautiful chromatic dulcimer

I had a custom chromatic dulcimer made for me with all koa wood and an ebony fret board. I chose the Victorian romance sound holes. Well, let me tell you, it is a piece of art work and if I never ever played it, just sitting and looking at it is worth the price! It is absolutely gorgeous and the wood grain, they couldn't have found a prettier piece to use. And it goes without saying, the sound she makes is beautiful. Now to learn how to play her as well as my others! Thank you!

Beautiful Appalachian dulcimer

I received my teardrop dulcimer about 3 weeks ago. It is absolutely beautiful. The front and bottom panels are perfectly matched. The overall finish is exquisite. Before playing it I always enjoy its looks and smoothness. Playing it is a joy - it frets easily and the sound sustain is long. Overall I’m glad that I bought it from folkcraft and I know that it will continue to be treasure.
A final point - the service from folkcraft was excellent..

Best Ever

About two weeks ago I received my seventh Folkcraft/Folkroots dulcimer and this last one is the best yet. I don't know how I could order a finer looking, better sounding instrument than my current one. Richard Ash was extremely helpful with his recommendations and he'll help you to if you so wish. He's just that way. Watching all the Folkcraft videos on YouTube was helpful too. I recommend that you give the custom shop a try.

OVER THE TOP !!

As a 40 year player,l am amazed as to how much better I am playing with my new instrument. And as a ex builder,I am also amazed at the craftsmanship, fit, and finish. If you get a chance to play one do it,....if you can buy one,...DO IT,YOU WON’T WANT TO PUT IT DOWN.
