Beautiful, Lovely, and Well-made with Rich, Mellow, and Sweet Sounds

Not long ago in Folkcraft News Letter, Richard introduced a “MaxDAD - Standard/Bass Hybrid Dulcimer” with five strings and over four octaves of sound range. It’s very impressive to me, and I thought that would be an ideal dulcimer for me. After having consulted with him, based on his valuable suggestions and kind assistance, I ordered an variant version of the dulcimer, which I call it “Max CGC - Standard/Bass Hybrid Dulcimer”with chromatic fret pattern. While the dulcimer is in the process of building, I ordered this ready-to-ship “Max DAD - Standard/Bass Hybrid Dulcimer” with diatonic fret pattern. It’s beautiful, lovely, and well-made with walnut body, cherry top, and unusual harp sound holes. Its sounds are mellow, rich, and sweet that’s exactly what I prefer. I tune it to the old fashion CGCGC to suit my playing. Most of current music books for dulcimer are for popular DAD tuning. However, to me with CGC tuning to play a melody, the string and fret position are exactly the same as DAD tuning when converting from D major to C major for example. Hopefully, I’d be able to play somethings I like sometimes.

FolkRoots H Series Dulcimer

It is a fantastic dulcimer, sounds great, and I love the bears and paw prints sound holes and the broken strips on the Oak Top. It has a Walnut Body with a 1+ and 8+ frets. Well built and I am very happy with it and Folkcraft!!!

Beautiful instrument

I was looking for a louder dulcimer than my current instrument. My music teacher made an appointment with Richard Ash at Folkcraft. I couldn't be happier with the dulcimer I purchased. it's beautiful and the sound is amazing. Richard Ash was very helpful and patient. We were given a short tour of the workshop, a very helpful blind selection process and I walked out with a dulcimer with which I am very happy. I would highly recommend Richard Ash and Folkcraft to anyone seeking to purchase a mountain dulcimer.

A pickup can pickup your tune.

I had Richard build me a custom dulcimer after I heard the review of Wendy Songe's new dulcimer with a magnetic pickup. I was looking for something that would reproduce the string sounds in very clear and positive way.
True to his word he not only built a dulcimer that looked great, but will knock your socks off with the sound. Not something bought , but a pickup made in Woodburn,Indiana USA.
If your looking for your once in a life time dulcimer give Richard a call. He will work with you to help you in the design process. You won't be disappointed.
