I think of this as the classic book on popular songs for the Mountain Dulcimer. Steve includes songs mostly in DAD tuning with a few in DAC. He also includes a few songs for the 1/1/2 Fret, as well as other frets, as he explains in the "Introduction" section. I especially liked he included notations so you can the Melody and/or Chordal arrangements. Nice, if you wish to play Noter/Drone or chord/pick style. It does include lyrics and chords. I do wish the book was in spiral bound binding so you could easily lay it out on a music stand without clips. I highly recommend this book.
I'm in my 80's and new to the Mountain Dulcimer. After reading some other books, which seemed overly technical, I've found this book is just right. It is wonderful. I like the plain language and easy steps to practice and increase playing ability in logical steps. It is an easy to understand without progressing into music theory. I find myself going back to this book many times, to pick up on points I missed, or for some additional practice. It's also rewarding you can play some songs right away.
I am a beginner Dulcimer player at 68 LOL. I've played piano for over 30 years but never played a guitar or this type of stringed instrument. I am progressing through the book and the audio files really help. I love the way the lessons build skills and progress through different strumming patterns.

This is a wonderful book with a great selection of tunes and ones for beginners to advanced. The tabs are easy to read and it was well edited.

I have quite a few dulcimers, play all of them regularly and keep a log of when to change strings. Purchasing strings in bulk is an efficient and economical way to keep up with string changes.
It's been fine so far no complaints. The bag is well padded and stitched. Ihavent seen it yet but a smaller pocket inside the front pocket for picks and possible a capo and nodder pocket. Overall a solid made product
