I asked Richard if he would laser cut his new "Live free or die" sound holes on some nice Western Red Cedar for me. I thought they would make a nice teardrop dulcimer. We call this "Albino" Western Red Cedar since it is a very light color to make the laser etchings stand out better. I like it and am half way thru the build already. Ready to pound in frets then glue up and sand the edges. A pic will be in my bio when Haley puts it up on the Folkcraft web page in a few days.
Everything good. Thanks.
I have used your finger boards for many years making Dulcimers and my Banjo-Mers. The wood is always highest quality. The boards are kiln dried and cut and
sanded true. This makes for easy final set-up when finished! Doug Thomson
It worked great on a total rebuild for our beginners group. It wasn't a Folkcraft but it worked as if It was
I bought this fingerboard along with a black walnut scroll headstock for a solid-body electric project. Quick shipping, and amazing customer service! Richard answered some technical questions for me, and months later I finally assembled the dulcimer. The fingerboard is perfectly manufactured and slotted for the Folkcraft Nuts and Bridge 'Nuts'.
I've been feeding the fingerboard with plenty of Lemon Oil, as the Walnut was very dry, but for an 'unfinished' fingerboard, you'll struggle to find anything with this kind of quality workmanship and integrity.
To build my electric solid-body, I cut a section out of the fingerboard where the carved strumming section would typically be - the fingerboard comes in one square section, with the Nut and Bridge slots cut for perfect intonation.
