I first met Larry Conger in 1999 at the Prairie Dulcimer Festival. I attended his workshop and purchased his "September on the Mississippi" collection of Dulcimer music. At that time I, like everyone else was playing traditional MD folk music. Larry had a style that made playing interesting rather than sounding like typical "jam" bum-ditty music. Not long after I was learning to fingerpick when a friend cut loose with Dick Dales "Pipeline" surfer music. At first I thought Blasphemy then realized he was just stretching the envelope and showing a dulcimer has no limitations,, only the picker. Over the years I've enjoyed playing all types of music from R&R, blues and some classical. Buying his classical music collection will give me another avenue of music to enjoy. Would like to meet him again sometime to shake his hand and thank him for his music and talent.
