Beautiful Instrument

I’m so pleased with my F series dulcimer- beautifully made- it was an “aha moment” when I lifted it out of the shipping box, and even more when I played it. From ordering it to playing it, everything was
excellent.

Good bit of kit

The dulcimer looks wonderful, but the main point for me is that it sounds great and plays well. I designed this to let me play more complex music, hence the wider fretboard. It's also a bigger body than my 30-year-old 4-string Folkcraft dulcimer, which delivers a 12-string-guitar-like sound when you carry a melody in the bass. It's a differnt animal.

My new dulcimer lets me play in the style of the late Bert Jansch without actually using my guitar!

Of course I agonised over the addition of a 11/2 fret and considered reducing it to a mini-fret under the middle string (I really wanted the C natural) but I was happy when I discoverd that the added f naturals let me play blues riffs in DAD. I think I will always think of the 11/2 fret as 'the extra fret for specific purposes' so I've filled the space behind it with a large, ornate position marker (a pentangle in memort of Jansch) so I'm always aware of it. Problem solved. Looks cool, too.

Great gift for my wife

I am a classical guitar dealer for almost 30 years so I know instruments very very well. I researched Dulcimers when I wanted to surprise my wife with one, she is a big Joni Mitchel fan. She loves the Dulcimer and is learning fast, the quality is excellent as is the tone, I think it would be hard to beat this Folkcraft Dulcimer without spending much more money. A great choice, we are very pleased.

So beautiful and masterfully made

I am so please with my Folkroots Dulcimer. It's like playing on a fretboard made of silk and the sound is deep and resonate. I highly recommend Folkcraft Dulcimers. Since I bought this one I have purchased a second one. I am so satisfied.

Beautiful Instrument

Beautiful craftsmanship on this instrument. It nearly plays itself, and gave me an immediate jump in my playing competence. It arrived in perfect condition and was perfectly set up. There were zero rough edges, zero buzzing frets, zero defects of any kind that I could notice. It is a testimony to the quality of the tuning machines that it was also nearly perfectly tuned (DAD) when I took it out of the box. Although I purchased the deeper body, it is not quite as loud as some of my other dulcimers, but it also has a shorter VSL than they do (27 inch versus 28.5 inches).
