This dulcimer has a clear, bright sound. It is easy to play and blends well with other instruments in a group. The melody, middle, and bass strings are well balanced making it a fun instrument to play.
With the cedar top and mahogany sides and back, this dulcimer has a deep rich tone and long sustain. What a joy to play!
Great customer service. Asked to use Paypal and was given that option with no questions asked. Easy ordering from the website. Thank you Folkcraft, I would buy from them again when I can afford another Dulcimer. Have already given your name to another prospective customer. Merry Christmas!!
To complement my Standard Folkcraft Custom Mountain Dulcimer, I ordered and received a Baritone Folkcraft Custom Mountain Dulcimer. After talking with Richard, I decided on cherry wood with rosewood accents. It is beautiful. Richard, Aaron, and Jim picked out some amazing wood sets for it. It sounds great too. The cherry adds a bit more sparkle and volume to the overall lower tones. The craftmanship, again, is top notch. The custom case is beautiful too, thanks to Pam's talent.
I talked to Richard at two festivals, and then on the phone. Several times. I had him (with his dad) make me a beautiful dulcimer. Walnut body with a red cedar top. Huge warm sound (just like he said). I love the cat sound holes, too. I’ll get another dulcimer (when I save up the money) and get one with dogs! (I love the 25” scale length, by the way!!!)
