FolkRoots® D Series Dulcimer, Mahogany Body, Butternut Top

I am so please with my Folkroots Dulcimer. It's like playing on a fretboard made of silk and the sound is deep and resonate. I highly recommend Folkcraft Dulcimers. Since I bought this one I have purchased a second one. I am so satisfied.

Beautiful craftsmanship on this instrument. It nearly plays itself, and gave me an immediate jump in my playing competence. It arrived in perfect condition and was perfectly set up. There were zero rough edges, zero buzzing frets, zero defects of any kind that I could notice. It is a testimony to the quality of the tuning machines that it was also nearly perfectly tuned (DAD) when I took it out of the box. Although I purchased the deeper body, it is not quite as loud as some of my other dulcimers, but it also has a shorter VSL than they do (27 inch versus 28.5 inches).

All my questions were promptly answered by Richard before I made the decision to purchase. As this instrument was a four string, Richard gave me the option of changing it to a three string of that's what I preferred, and he did so at no extra cost and without delay. I received my dulcimer within a week of ordering. It was very well packaged. This dulcimer was flawless. This is a beautiful instrument with a beautiful warm tone and we'll worth the buy. Will definitely order from Folkcraft again.

So happy to receive this custom dulcimer with chromatic fretboard and a built-in pick up. I don't have an amp so I haven't tried the pick up yet, but even without an amp, the sound carries well. I am really enjoying the touch and playability of this dulcimer. The tone is wonderful - it just rings on and on and on. And the chromatic fretboard is helping me learn music and I'm able to play more keys and songs (so much easier on 3 strings than on a guitar!). I am also really pleased with the beauty of the sound hole I picked (dragonfly).

I am thoroughly happy with this beautiful dulcimer. It was worth waiting for one customized just for me. Looking forward to trying out the pick up.

This dulcimer is absolutely stunning,with a sound to go with it. It has a beautiful rich tone and stays in tune. Very pleased. Can't wait to purchase my next one!!!
