Folkcraft Performance At The "Old Fort" (Posted by Richard Ash on 8/23/2010)
It seems like sometimes we can go months without having anything "new" to post here at the Folkcraft Community page. But sometimes it seems like there's always something happening right around the corner.
On Sunday, September 12, 2010, I will be performing/demonstrating the Appalachian (lap, mountain) dulcimer at the "Old Fort" in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Here's a photo of the fort as it appears now:

The modern fort is a reproduction of the original, which was built at the same location in 1815.
My repertoire for this performance will consist entirely of popular songs of 1815, with a focus on the northern Indiana region. All songs will be both regionally and historically appropriate. WRONG! If you come by and say "hi", you'll be subjected to pretty much every song I can play - everything from Irish tunes to traditional songs of the southern Appalachian mountains.

I'll be playing from noon until 5:00 PM, so don't hesitate to stop by!

Thank you, Tom G., and the entire board, for inviting Folkcraft to participate in the "Tourist In Your Own Home Town" event.
When people think of heirloom-quality instruments, they think of Folkcraft. Here's why: Our instruments are handmade in the United States of America, not in a cheap overseas factory. Our instruments are crafted one at a time, not on an assembly line. Our instruments are made of solid woods, not out of plywood.
Folkcraft instruments are made with pride and tradition, using the same methods as our founders used in 1968. Folkcraft Instruments is a family business, with two generations of luthiers putting their skill and experience into every instrument they create.
