Flamed Birch
 | | Flamed birch is birch with "curl." It tends to have very random grain patterns which give it a very decorative look. Flamed birch is hard enough to make almost any dulcimer part from, but its wild grain patterns make it hard to recommend for fingerboards. With its light color, flamed birch makes a great accent wood on dark instruments such as walnut or mahogany. |
