African Mahogany
 | | African mahogany is a hard dense wood (very similar to cherry). It has a very straight grain, so it is very easy to work and does not splinter easily. The color is a medium dark reddish brown which does not change dramatically with time or with clear finishes. African mahogany makes a good choice for practically any part of an instrument - it is dense enough and strong enough for heads and bodies, hard enough for fingerboards, and light enough to give a good tone quality. |
