The soundboard we've put on this walnut kantele is made of Engelmann spruce. Engelmann spruce has long been associated with the most expensive classical guitars made, and we're pleased to offer it on a select few of our kanteles. The Engelmann spruce is mostly white in color, and looks great with the brown color of the walnut used for this instrument's body.   With fifteen strings, you get a full two octave D major scale. You could easily tune your kantele to play a two octave C major scale if you preferred.   To play the instrument, you can hold it upright against your body, with the strings facing away from you, or you can lay the instrument across your lap with the strings facing upwards.
