This beautiful piece of Engelmann spruce has been shaped and cut to 22" x 8" (may vary by up to 1/8") and comes in a thickness of 1/8" (finished to 120 grit). This piece can be used as either a back or soundboard for a bowed psaltery.
About Engelmann Spruce: Like any of the spruce family, Engelmann spruce is very strong for its weight. Engelmann spruce has a more open grain than Sitka spruce and is a little bit lighter in weight as well. Engelmann spruce is great for soundboards with its high strength to weight ratio, but is not strong enough to be well suited for sides, backs, heads or fingerboards.
