The bent pieces are shipped to you pre-bent in the traditional mountain dulcimer hourglass shape.   About Hickory: Hickory is one of the hardest and heaviest domestic hardwoods available. In appearance, hickory ranges from off white to light brown with a fairly open grain pattern.
