This sycamore mountain dulcimer side set includes 2 pieces of book matched American sycamore each measuring 2" x 32" with a thickness of 1/10" (finished to 120 grit).
We give options for both straight and bent. The bent pieces are shipped to you pre-bent in the traditional mountain dulcimer hourglass shape.
About Sycamore: A hardwood tree found throughout North America, the sycamore typically grows to a height of 90 to 150 feet. Sycamore lumber, when quartersawn (see "Red Oak" for a description of quartersawing) has a beauty and figure that is unique to American hardwoods. Sycamore is relatively lightweight, but yet surprisingly strong, so it can function well as both a body wood and and soundboard wood.
