This beautiful piece of Sitka spruce has been shaped and cut to 22" x 8" (may vary by up to 1/8") and comes in a thickness of 1/8" (finished to 120 grit). This piece can be used as either a back or soundboard for a bowed psaltery. We typically combine two pieces of spruce to create this single soundboard/back.
About Sitka Spruce: Sitka spruce is native to Alaska. The trunk of a mature Sitka spruce tree is typically 15 feet in diameter. Technically a softwood, Sitka spruce is both strong and light. It is often used as soundboards/tops in guitars, violins, dulcimers, and many other instruments.
